“I leave the gift of peace with you—my peace. Not the kind of fragile peace given by the world, but my perfect peace. Don’t yield to fear or be troubled in your hearts—instead, be courageous!” John 14:27 TPT
There come times fear is sticky – hard to shake off,
and Brave might seem to have gotten well-lost.
If we stop and we look from where a voice comes,
Is it friendly or foe-like? Does it know what is true?
Does it tell you you’re neat?
Does it tell you you’re clever?
Or does it tell you to shrink,
and everyone ELSE is better?
And when you go wrong, or stray from the road
Does it stay kind?
Does it give you a hand?
Or does it tell you you’re silly,
and push your face deeper in the sand?
What’s to be done of lies that aren’t true?
What if they get you stuck?
and finding Brave helps you move?
Is a thing what it seems?
Or is a thing what is true?
Must Fear be so sticky?
And is Brave ever full-lost?
Are all things said, as true as each other?
Or do some get us stuck,
and some help us move further?
If we make ourselves stop and hear from where a voice comes,
could Fear lose it’s stick?
Might Brave become found?
If a thing’s what it is, and not just what it seems,
we might have to carefully choose,
which one to befriend.
“The Spirit God gave us does not make us afraid. His Spirit is a source of power and love and self-control.” 2 Timothy 1:7 ERV.
