“The proud person always wants to do the right thing, the great thing. But because he wants to do it in his own strength, he is fighting not with man, but with God.” – Soren Kierkegaard. //
What would happen if today we relaxed, in the middle of our mess, and let God do his job? This, I’m coming to see, is no easy feat. I often sit with anxiety, because I want so much more control over situations than I have been given. Yet this holding on tight, is like continually handing myself over to the grip of fear, while God intended I hand myself over to him; so that through his strength, and my weakness, he might actually be enabled to work to bring life – right in the places I am fading.
Accepting what comes with not being God and having limits to what we can offer, inclusive of our failures, is not something to be ashamed of – it’s beautifully human. God is not surprised nor disappointed by this. I’m beginning to wonder, could it be that this realization is the very thing that creates space for God to move?
Relax and give yourself permission to have limits, to make mistakes. And try trusting that his love has you covered today; the thing is… love is who he is, and fear is who he is not.
