The Melody has more power with a Rhythm.

Have you ever thought about how in everything there is a process?

/

The melody of a song would be nothing had it no notes between the first and the last. It would be nothing without a rhythm. It’s the notes between the beginning and the end of a song, and also the beat they dance upon, that create something beautiful. Each and every note is so key in creating a stunning, wild melody that is your life. Hear or look at the one note apart from it’s melody, it looks peculiar, it doesn’t fit, there’s nothing other than the one sound it’s making.

But I think faith is a little like trusting that the ground we stand upon in the right now is temporary, even though perhaps momentarily we only hear or see the one note being played, and it’s sounding terribly repetitive and makes no sense on it’s own; you know the moments where it’s kind of frightening or mundane or ..? Perhaps because you don’t like the sound or the feelings it may be tugging at.  It’s in those moments, that remembering this is just a step in the process of this whole life deal of ours, is so comforting. Even in the small daily routines, the little stories, as well as the big ones – this still rings true. It’s dangerous to let the moment tell you how it is. This is just one step.

A crazy, rich, gorgeous melody is being created within us. Faith trusts that, central to the ‘Melody Makers’ nature is a promise; that he is quite able, infact desires to create beauty from one note to the next. All we must do is just create a rhythm for the tune to dance around. And the rhythm – in this case might just be the steps we take.

I think we forget sometimes. We forget in the lows, in the terrifying, moments that there is a bigger more beautiful story being played out here. It’s all a process. We panic too easily. We kick back too easily. We settle into despair too easily at just one point of the melody. We stop. It’s so easy to look at things as they are and think that this is all it will be. But this is not the nature of life. We must ride out each stage of the song, the process, always allowing peace to whisper to our soul that it doesn’t end here. Be ready for the up because it is coming. Be ready for the lows, because they too come. In realising this, it’s strangely easier to relax in each moment, and actually appreciate what each gives.

Just remember. The Melody Maker promises to make something out of the ground we stand upon right now, whatever ground we stand upon, wherever it is in any given situation. In the melody, the song – can only be created from connecting one note to the next, from one step to the next. In focusing on the one note, its far too easy to become disheartened and sink deep.

So. I pray our feet keep stepping up and down and around, keep dancing along from one place to the next, for the melody needs that, the melody has more power with a rhythm and steps to bounce in and out of. For I think the Melody Maker requires that too, it gives power to that story of ours – to keep blooming and becoming more and more of who each of us are. I pray we don’t look to the right or the left too much at someone elses steps, and dance to our own rhythm. For often it doesn’t and won’t look like anyone else. It was never meant to.

P.S A tune I would recommend that put this whole lot on my heart a couple months ago is called ‘Shepherd’ by Amanda Cook. Look it up on youtube. It’s well worth it.

“For I am about to do something new.
See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?
I will make a pathway through the wilderness.
I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.
The wild animals in the fields will thank me,
the jackals and owls, too,
for giving them water in the desert.
Yes, I will make rivers in the dry wasteland
so my chosen people can be refreshed.”

Isaiah 43:19
